Phytochemicals |
|---|
Phyto is from the Greek meaning "to bring forth,"
Hence, phytochemical means a chemical from a plant. Modern nutritional
science has discovered 100's of phytochemicals in fruits, vegetables, grains,
and legumes. Some are essential to our bodies hormone regulation, others trigger
the release of various chemical messengers between nerves and neurotransmitters
which are critical to emotional and mental well-being. Some protect our DNA
from being damaged. There is growing scientific acknowledgment that phytochemicals,
vitamins, minerals, and enzymes may possess antimutagenic, antioxidative, and
anti-inflammatory properties.
It's the phytochemicals that give therapeutic properties to herbs that have
been used in folk medicine for centuries.
Age-old wisdom and cutting edge scientific research - from these quite unlikely
partners comes a remarkable product. Syntra-Max synergistically blends
together more phytochemical-dense foods with time proven herbs than any other
product of its kind.
The Players
Astragalus acts as an adaptogen and a tonic to protect
the immune system. It increases metabolism, promotes healing, and provides energy to combat fatigue.
Blue Green Algae are one of the most well known of
the so called "green superfoods." Algae are one of the most ancient of all living organisms.
Algae are found in every drop of water, in "healthy" soil, and from the ice caps to the
hottest mineral springs on earth. In all their forms, algae produce about 90% of the Earth's oxygen.
Cat's Claw is perhaps the most remarkable herb to be
studied in many, many years. Originating in the Peruvian rain forest, Cat's Claw contains
six oxindole alkaloids, three of which have been proven to be effective immuno-stimulants.
This herb has an unusual ability to cleanse and de-toxify the entire digestive tract,
thereby correcting nutritional imbalances caused by digestive blockages. Dr. Brent Davis
has worked with cat's claw since 1988 and calls it "the opener of the way".
Cayenne increases the power of all other herbs and is
known as the purest and best stimulant in the herb kingdom. It is unequaled in strengthening
the immune system, equalizing blood pressure, and improving circulation.
Cruciferous Vegetables are the "wonder kids" of the
vegetable world. They include cabbage, bok choy, collards, broccoli, brussels sprouts,
kohlrabi, kale, mustard greens, turnip greens, and cauliflower. These vegetables contain
more phytochemicals that may strengthen the immune system and thereby help the body to
build resistance against viruses and diseases than any other known food. Cruciferous
vegetables are rich in the antioxidant vitamins C, E, and beta-carotene, and are a good
source of dietary fiber.
Cruciferous vegetables also contain sulphoraphanes, and other isocyothionates, which are
believed to stimulate the production of protective enzymes in the body. These powerful
enzymes detoxify toxins and other problem-causing agents and flush them from the body.
Two other powerful phytochemicals found in this vegetable family are indoles and
quercetin. Indoles are the products of fermentation that give cabbage and broccoli
their characteristic odors and that may assist the body by inactivating potentially
damaging estrogens. Quercetin is a powerful bioflavonoid that inactivates aflatoxin, a
mold that may contaminate nuts and grains, and cause a weakened bodily immune system.
Dong Quai is the most important female tonic remedy in
Chinese medicine. It is used for debility and poor vitality as well as all kinds of gynecological
conditions. It also improves peripheral circulation and reduces blood viscosity.
Ginger contains a number of pungent compounds known as
gingerols, shogaols, and zingerone. The medical effects of these pungent compounds have been
shown to be effective in treating motion sickness and nausea. Ginger is able to calm the
stomach, promote bile flow, and improve the appetite. It is a very effective antibiotic
agent and strong antioxidant.
Ginseng is an ancient herbal wonder. Siberian, Korean,
and American ginseng are blended together to provide a balanced tonic effect. Ginseng has
been used for centuries to improve both mental and physical activity, invigorate the system,
and prolong life. It has been used as a love potion and to normalize blood sugar. Ginseng
is also known as an adaptogen. Adaptogens exert a normalizing influence on the body,
increasing resistance to stress.
Gotu Kola has been found to have important beneficial
effects on solid tissues, including skin, connective tissue, lymph tissues, blood vessels,
and mucous membranes. It also reduces tissue inflammation and infection while promoting
post-surgical healing.
Hawthorne Berries are loaded with powerful flavonoids
and procyanidins. Hawthorne berries have been used for centuries to dilate coronary blood
vessels, lower blood pressure, improve circulation, and strengthen the heart muscle.
Hydra-Green is one of the most incredible "green
superfoods" ever discovered. Called a "superfood" because it concentrates nutrients
more than other foods, plants, grains, or herbs; and green because of its high content
of chlorophyll, Hydra-Green is known as a wild-harvested, aquatic herb.
This unique, organic herb provides an abundance of beneficial phytochemicals. It's
been proven as a muscle builder, energy enhancer, anti-arthritic, free radical scavenger,
and has dynamic applications for stress management and age-related wellness strategies.
Hydra-Green has also been shown to increase nutrient absorption.
It is perhaps the world's most concentrated, naturally occurring source of protein,
carbohydrates, vitamins, amino acids, fatty acids, minerals, protective pigments, and
other phytochemicals.
Licorice has been used as a sweetener and flavor in candies
for centuries. It contains the glycoside, "glcyrrhizin" which has a similar structure and activity
as adrenal steroids. This property makes licorice a good anti-inflammatory agent similar to
cortisone and is useful for improving joint mobility.
Octacosanol is derived from wheat germ. Studies indicate that
this compound is useful in improving endurance and increasing oxygen utilization. Octocosanol works
to reduce blood cholesterol, muscular dystrophies, and other neuromuscular dysfunction.
Reishi and Shiitake Mushrooms have been used medicinally
for at least 2,000 years in the Orient. They have been used to prevent high blood pressure
and heart disease, and to build resistance against viruses, disease, and fatigue. The Reishi
mushroom was rated #1 on ancient Chinese lists of superior medicines and touted as a substance
that would give eternal youth and longevity.
Rosemary, Oregano, Sage, and Thyme are all members the Labiatae
family of herbs. These herbs have been shown to have powerful preventative effects with many degenerative
conditions. Rosemary contains phenolic diterpenes and quinones, which are antioxidants and have been
found to strengthen the immune system.
Royal Jelly is the thick, milky, substance that is
secreted from the pharyngeal glands of a special group of young nurse bees between their
sixth and twelfth days of life. When honey and pollen are combined and refined within the
young nurse bee, royal jelly is naturally created. It is high in all B-complex vitamins
and is the only natural source of pure acetylcholine. Royal jelly also contains minerals,
enzymes, hormones, eighteen amino acids, and antibacterial and antibiotic components. It
is known as a potentiator of the immune system.
Saw Palmettoberries are rich in a variety of fatty acids
and phytosterols. These fat soluble active agents have been shown to inhibit the conversion
of testosterone (DHT) which is thought to be responsible for the enlargement of the prostate.
These agents also inhibit the binding of DHT to receptors, thus blocking DHT's action and
promoting the breakdown of the potent compound.
Suma is used mostly as an adaptogen. Studies have shown
anabolic, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory effects. It is a superior tonic and can be used
topically for regenerative effects.
Turmeric is a perennial plant native to East
India and most of the Pacific Islands. It belongs to the ginger family and has curcumin
as its active ingredient. Curcumin, the phytochemical responsible for turmeric's yellow
pigment, is a potent antimutagenic agent and is being studied for its activity against
cancer, inflammation, and platelet aggregation. Turmeric has been shown to lower blood
cholesterol, encourage weight loss, assist and strengthen the liver, and to stimulate
digestion.
Umbelliferae Vegetables are another potent family of
vegetables which include carrots, celery, parsnips, winter squash, and parsley. These
vegetables contain high levels of chlorophyll-a remarkable phytochemical with dozens of
abilities. The power of chlorophyll for fighting infection and healing wounds has been
legendary for centuries.
Wheat and Barley Grass are two other major players
in the "green superfood" category. These two remarkable ingredients, as found in Syntra-Max,
are organically grown and carefully harvested. The harvesting process includes a 5-stage
pressure wash and bath system that includes ozone injection in the bath to remove
bacteria and harmful micro-organisms. The drying process temperature never exceeds
88° F. This patent pending technology removes the moisture from the plant without
damaging the living enzymes and nutrients found within the plant. The result is a
truly exceptional, live, whole food concentrate.
Wheat and Barley Grass are high in calcium, iron, all the essential amino acids,
vitamin C, bioflavonoids, minerals, enzymes, and many phytochemicals. The molecular
structure of the chlorophyll in wheat and barley grass closely resembles hemoglobin,
the oxygen-carrying protein of red blood cells, and may account for the effectiveness
of these "green superfoods."
